Moyo Island, The Tranquil Paradise Island

Moyo Island is a small and tranquil island yet has great natural wealth. Moyo Island is located in the North of Sumbawa Island, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The beach, the sea, and the nature will give you a real tranquility to your soul. No wonder even Lady Diana and Mick Jagger ever been here.

This island has variation of height 0-649 meter (0-2125 foot) above sea level. The forests in this area are beautiful, this is proven by the fact that hundreds of butterflies are living behind bushes, tree, or in the middle of savanna. There are also 21 kind of bat species, birds, macaque, wild boar, deers and snakes. And that's why it's not recommended for you to travel around without local guide, because you can get lost here. But strangely there are stories that whenever someone gets lost, he/she always find a way out. Whether he/she has been guided by birds, or butterflies.

Beautiful forests that almost never been "touched", waterfalls and rivers, and also the beauty of dive spot, makes it a world paradise indeed. Beside forest hiking, you can also explore caves by foot as an alternative. One of the caves is Ai Manis Cave. It's a home of hundreds of bats. Other activity you can do is two hours trekking. It starts from Labuan Haji, into the Brang Rea waterfall (Great river), which is located in the center of the island.

If you're a bird lover, you will love this place. There are 124 bird species in Sumbawa, and 86 of it are living in this island. You can also find endangered species here like Yellow Head Cockatoo, and Gosong bird. You can also do snorkeling or diving here. Underwater sea park has beautiful soft and hard coral, sponge and crustaceans, even you can see a tiny shark, anemone, eel, grouper fish, and manta ray here. The diving spot is located in Medang island, in the Northwest of Moyo island.

Some of cruises sailed from Bali, Lombok or international harbors often visit this island. The trip usually layover to Moyo island and Satonda island, a small island on the Northeast of Moyo island, which has a salt water lake on the island.

After all the adventure, you can relax for a while by enjoying sunset on the beach. White sand that make the beach look more beautiful, small waves raveling, dusk on the sky make the atmosphere even romantic. This will definitely ake you forget about your tiredness and problems.
